First Week of June

Welcome June! We started the week off with breaking in Tim's new grill after he got home from the hospital on Sunday. We spent a lot of time in the water this week at the pool, splash pad or simply the backyard. And also spent a lot of time just prepping and packing for our trip to Utah!

Kate also planned a tea party play date with three of her favorite school friends! Thank you Fancy Nancy Tea Party book we got at the library...Kate had lots of ideas of what we needed to do.... It was so fun though. At one point Kate told me "this is better than my birthday party!"

Tot Town also started back up for the summer. We will certainly be here a ton this summer escaping the crazy Phoenix heat!

Future baller?! Although his height is not to his advantage.

One of our favorite Iowa City friends, Whitney, is from Phoenix. It is also such a treat when she comes to town to visit her parents and makes time to see us!

Then Friday we headed down to Tucson for the new Temple Open House! I've been hoping to be able to take the girls to see inside the temple for so long. And finally a new temple was opening close enough to us for us to be able to go. Before an LDS temple is dedicated we invite everyone to come see inside. It was a really special experience! And although I wasn't so sure driving 2 hours the day before we would be driving up to Utah was the best idea it was totally worth it.

Kate has the exact same dress that the little girl is wearing in this picture. And she almost wore it but decided last minute to change...she was bummed that she wasn't wearing it when she saw this giant picture at the open house.
Henry was drawn to this Christus statue. It was really sweet!

And while we were in Tucson we were finally able to go visit my cousin Brian and his darling family! And it just so happened that my Aunt Joia and Uncle Brian were in town. It was so fun to catch up with them.

And now we are off to Utah! Can't wait for lots of cousin fun and cooler weather!

Last Week of May

We started the week out with big celebrations...well not really big but celebrating both Tim's birthday and Memorial Day! Tim had to work Sunday night 6pm-7am so he needed to sleep most of Monday. But he woke up to go to a BBQ/pool party with some friends and then again in the evening to open presents and enjoy his traditional ice cream cake! I felt a little bad not getting to do more or make his birthday a bigger deal. But I guess that's just life as a grown up and life as a busy resident. We sure love him though and loved getting to celebrate him a little bit!

The girls were so excited about the new camping pads that Tim got for his birthday...they had a little sleepover on their floor to break them in.

Tuesday morning we headed to the collision repair shop to turn over our van. Our car insurance covers the cost of a rental car but only up to $35 dollars a day which apparently isn't enough for a van. We didn't want to pay the difference and figured a full size car would be fine. But turns out they were out of full size cars but "upgraded me" to a Fiat...yeah one of those tiny cars. We were able to get all 3 car seats/boosters in so I went with it. Although getting the kids in and out is a royal pain. But we made it work and it was a cute car to drive around for the week.
Crossing activities off our Summer bucket list...Dollar Store fun!

Squeezing into the backseat

Lots of swimming at the pool, playing in the backyard kiddie pool and water table and lots of popsicles this week!

We also met with our friends at the American girl doll store!

We of course stopped and got our free doughnuts for National Doughnut Day!

Then, Thursday we had the epic lemonade stand! I love how much the girls love doing this. We live in a really quite neighborhood with very little traffic. So we end up doing it by the pool around 4:45-5:45 so we can catch people as the come in from work. We last minute decided we better do it this week because it's only getting hotter! It was a total success. We had 17 customers and made $15!!!

Monthly Home Depot Kids Workshop. I'm not so sure I'm going to be able to keep Henry in the stroller much longer.
