Utah Visit- Week 1

We had the best 2 week visit to Utah! With Kate out of school, it roasting in Phoenix and Tim working super long hours at the hospital me and the kids packed up the van and went to Utah. We had the best time soaking up as much grandparent and cousin time as possible, enjoying cooler temperatures and catching up with a few friends.

We left Saturday at noon and drove to Las Vegas. We often make the drive to Utah in one day but without Tim I didn't want to do it. In the past I had stayed at the Virgin River Casino in Mesquite, NV since they have $27 hotel rooms and it's at the half way mark. But uur Phoenix friends, the Jacksons, had moved to Vegas last December so we jumped at the chance of seeing them.  The girls were in total heaven catching up and playing. We then woke up Sunday and hit to road stopping to see Tim's family in Utah county before making it to my parents house.

We got to see Tim's parents new house they are building and catch up with all the Utah Bahrs over dinner.

We made it to my parents house Sunday night just in time for dessert. The girls immediately went out to jump on the trampoline and Millie took a huge liking to "her doll" (see above). My sister-in-law makes these cute dolls of each grandchild for my mom and Millie had not seen hers yet.
We spent the next week playing with cousins, jumping on the trampoline a lot, visiting the zoo, Wheeler Farm and aquarium, having movie nights with Grandma, playing at the parks (since we can't do that right now in Phoenix cause it's too hot), catching up with old friends, the annual Sokol cousin campout and enjoying the gorgeous mountains with some hiking and marsh mellow roasting. It was a fabulous week!

My animal loving Henry was in heaven!!! And it was so fun we could get so close!

I even happened to be in town the same week as a few of my high school friends (one is in Boston, one in VA and one in Michigan and then me in AZ) so we planned an evening at the park. We had the best evening catching up and it was pretty crazy how our kids took over the entire playground (the kids wouldn't stop playing for a picture...between us there are 35)!

I love this picture of Henry. My grandma bought that horse for my oldest brother Steve, 40 years ago!

Every year we all get together and camp out in Jeff's backyard for the Sokol Cousin Campout. We've missed the last couple years and were SO glad to be in town this year!

First Week of June

Welcome June! We started the week off with breaking in Tim's new grill after he got home from the hospital on Sunday. We spent a lot of time in the water this week at the pool, splash pad or simply the backyard. And also spent a lot of time just prepping and packing for our trip to Utah!

Kate also planned a tea party play date with three of her favorite school friends! Thank you Fancy Nancy Tea Party book we got at the library...Kate had lots of ideas of what we needed to do.... It was so fun though. At one point Kate told me "this is better than my birthday party!"

Tot Town also started back up for the summer. We will certainly be here a ton this summer escaping the crazy Phoenix heat!

Future baller?! Although his height is not to his advantage.

One of our favorite Iowa City friends, Whitney, is from Phoenix. It is also such a treat when she comes to town to visit her parents and makes time to see us!

Then Friday we headed down to Tucson for the new Temple Open House! I've been hoping to be able to take the girls to see inside the temple for so long. And finally a new temple was opening close enough to us for us to be able to go. Before an LDS temple is dedicated we invite everyone to come see inside. It was a really special experience! And although I wasn't so sure driving 2 hours the day before we would be driving up to Utah was the best idea it was totally worth it.

Kate has the exact same dress that the little girl is wearing in this picture. And she almost wore it but decided last minute to change...she was bummed that she wasn't wearing it when she saw this giant picture at the open house.
Henry was drawn to this Christus statue. It was really sweet!

And while we were in Tucson we were finally able to go visit my cousin Brian and his darling family! And it just so happened that my Aunt Joia and Uncle Brian were in town. It was so fun to catch up with them.

And now we are off to Utah! Can't wait for lots of cousin fun and cooler weather!
