Henry's party was SO much fun to plan! After tossing around a couple ideas Kate and I decided A Very Hungry Caterpillar would be perfect for our baby boy! It's a family favorite story and I figured there would be plenty of years where he would want a car or construction themed party and then Kate said it best when she said, "this is perfect because Henry is always eating and eating." Henry really is such a good eater and Kate's right he eats a lot.
We were very thankful for our friends that came to celebrate (I'm bummed I didn't get a group shot)! We kept it small but thanks to Kate, our party planning extraordinaire we had a few activities including coloring/activity pages and stringing fruit loop necklaces. We had turkey/ham and of course salami sandwiches and a lot of fruit for lunch. And then enjoyed cupcakes and ice cream cones. The girls also helped me make these cute butterfly snack bags for a favor for the kids.
Poor Henry though he was kind of sad and wanted to be held by me most of the party. Henry sobbed when we tried to give him his little smash cake. And I was super bummed that he didn't want to have anything to do with it. I was dying for some of those cute cake smash pics. Anyway...after taking a 3 hour afternoon nap after the party he continued to be sensitive...Tim checked his ears and sure enough...nothing says Happy Birthday like your first ear infection! Poor guy! It just doesn't seem fair that he had to be sick for his birthday. Although I am very thankful that he went this long without ever getting one. And it didn't keep Henry from having a happy birthday and having some fun. We enjoyed going to the park for a picnic Saturday evening and still had fun opening presents and playing with birthday toys on Sunday.
