Fourth Week of July

We had a great last week here in Phoenix. I spent a lot of it prepping for our upcoming trip to Utah. But it is also our last week (besides the week we'll be in Utah) before school starts so I wanted to be sure to have a lot of fun and soak up our time with Kate!

Tim had to work Sunday so after church we had a family movie night and watched Zootopia! The girls love it especially Kate. She loves Judy Hops and drew that cute picture of a carrot for Judy (see above). Kate also came up with and executed this awesome Captain America shield.

After Kate's constant asking I finally gave in and we made plans to have their lemonade stand on Monday! I had been hesitant only because it is so hot. But Kate really wanted to do it before school started. It was a little tricky to figure out when to do it. Our gated community is dead during the day. The only time we thought people would actually be driving by would be when everyone is coming home from work...but the problem is that's also the hottest time of day. Oh boy! Not that the girls needed tons of customers but I thought it would be pretty sad if they didn't get a single buyer so we set up in front of the pool so when people came right through the gates they would stop by.

Sunday night Millie complained that her tummy was hurting. I thought it was just another reason for her to get out of her bed so I let her lay in my bed while I finished feeding Henry before he went to bed. Poor girl ended up puking a bunch right in our bed but luckily Henry had finished eating and I was able to lay him down on the bed, he stayed asleep, Kate had already fallen asleep and I was able to take care of Millie and get her back in bed, then go back and swaddle Henry and put him in bed then begin the fun clean up of all the bedding. Dang Tim was at the hospital for it all.

I went to bed worried that we would have to reschedule the lemonade stand but Millie woke up totally fine so after a super fun trip to the laundromat the girls set up shop and had a blast selling drinks and treats! It was so fun! They ended up making $21 total and right away already knew what they wanted to buy with their money (Kate-a princess palace playset, Millie- a Figaro stuffed animal).

Henry grew up overnight this week! It seriously is breaking my heart. I came out of the kitchen to find this...

Henry learned to roll over from back to tummy on Monday July 25, 2016 and by Tuesday he'd figured out how to roll back from his tummy onto his back! This week he also realized he could reach the toys in his bouncer and is talking that much more and also drooling like crazy! A little tooth is soon going to be on its way!

Some of our best friends invited us over to dinner one night to help me not go crazy! We love Lola and her family!
Millie wanted in on the action too!
Practicing the violin
Millie loves when Henry pulls on her nightgown!

This month has been a tough one for our family! Tim was working in the PICU and his hours have been really long! We used his day off Wednesday to take the girls to Peter Piper Pizza! It's a favorite of theirs. Kate loves the dessert pizza. She calls it "treat" pizza. And both girls love getting a few tokens to play some games! Tim also took Kate on a daddy daughter date to the American Girl Doll Store!

Walked upstairs to find this little impromptu sing along happening!

Look at this big guy!
Millie (and Kate too) love hanging out by Hen as he does his "tricks" as the girls call it!

Thursday we headed to tot town for a good time and Friday we had friends over to swim! Tim finished his PICU rotation midweek and started a new, less demanding rotation (Thank goodness) and we found out he had the weekend off so we decided to leave earlier than expected and hit the road Friday afternoon when Tim got off. Utah here we come!

Third Week of July

We started the week of with bang and got to reconnect with some of our Iowa friends, the Duncan's, that just moved to Mesa this past week. It was SO fun see them again and our girls, especially Grace and Kate, immediately hit it off. Kate hasn't stopped asking when Grace can come over and play. Too bad they live 55 minutes away.

Monday we headed over to a splash pad to enjoy some water and also connect with some of the other doctor wives in Phoenix! It was fun to meet new people and make some new friends.

Henry all of a sudden is grabbing his feet. It's the cutest thing. I love his "happy baby" pose! Here he is (pictured below) at his 4 month well child check. This boy is short and stout...but also SO cute! Check out those rolls!

We celebrated the end of Tim's crumby night shifts and not getting to see Dad by going to Chick-fil-a for dinner. Turns out it was their family night and we got to see the cow. Kate was super excited. Millie only wanted to wave from a distance.

We saw this car while out running errands one day... Kate was obviously really excited! And not only was it a "Kate" license plate but it was on a yellow car. Yellow is Kate's current favorite color!

We braved the heat and headed to the zoo early one day. We had so much fun and the kids played at the splash pad for hours. And we still got to see some animals.

While I was cooking dinner I turned around to see this... I love watching the girls play and talk to Henry! Siblings are the best! And also this week... I feel like Kate and Millie have played SO well together! I LOVE IT!!! It is so amazing to see your kids play well together, have fun together and be kind towards each other. The girls have been playing a lot of princesses with their little castles they earned with potty training (Millie) and not twirling hair (Kate). I loved walking in on them happily playing. They have the best conversations and some pretty awesome voices they make for each princess figure.

We also had dentists appointments this week. Kate was literally ecstatic to be going to the dentist. Silly girl! She loved it and hopped into that chair! Millie on the other hand was terrified and clamped down on the dentist finger more than once! Yikes!

We got to check out the new line of American Girl dolls last week while Grandma B was in town. But when we heard that Lola, Kate's buddy, had never been to the AG Doll Store we planned an outing. Kate has her eyes set on Camille, the new blonde, Well Wisher. These dolls are a few inches shorter than the standard AG dolls. They are catered from ages 5-8 and have a plastic body too. And they are $60 compared to the what $115-125 that the other dolls are. I initially wasn't so sure about them but seeing them again I have to say they have some darling outfits and accessories and Kate is crazy about them.

After checking out the dolls we headed over to the fountains at Scottsdale Quarter. The girls had a lot of fun splashing around but the heat eventually got to us and we had to leave. Poor me and Henry having to nurse in the heat. Sometimes it's rough having a baby in this heat.

Friday Tim and I celebrated our 7th wedding anniversary! We kept things low key but we were able to get a babysitter and go out to dinner which was a real treat. Although I had to laugh as I drove down to meet Tim at the restaurant...He was supposed to have gotten off in plenty of time to make it home so we could go together but then residency life... I'm just glad it worked out that Tim had the night off. Tim got me these gorgeous roses. Unfortunately the one picture we took of us at dinner must be on Tim's phone.

I love love this picture Kate drew while the babysitter was over. It's the Eiffel Tower! How cute is that?!

Then Saturday we got to attend our friend Avery's 3rd birthday party! Avery isn't your typically princess loving gal. She adores super heroes and dragons. Kate wasn't totally sure about how this theme was going to work out but they the end of the party she was saying things like "Captain America is my favorite super hero" and "Next Halloween can we do super heroes?" It was an awesome party. The girls loved throwing water balloons and having a water gun fight. And they loved the silly masks they got to wear!

Henry- 4 months

Happy 4 months to our little man last week on the 12th! He is the happiest, smiliest guy! Time needs to slow down! Here's an update:
  • Was sleeping through the night for a good 2 weeks but since our return from Utah is now up once a night again around 4:30-5am.
  • Wears size 2 diapers and 3-6 month clothes.
  • Henry has never been the best napper. He struggles during the day. I have been working on trying to have him nap in his bed rather than the swing. It's going okay. He is doing better but we've got a ways to go. Although I know I shouldn't least he sleeps great at night. (Although Millie has been getting up sometimes 3 times a night...oh my!)
  • Loves to grab and play with toys! This seriously happened overnight. I love seeing him in his gym grabbing the little toys. His favorite toys are his wooden skwish, winkel rattle, Sophie the giraffe, play keys and his jingle stuffed baseball.
  • He's really found his voice!!! He loves to squawk! He also loves telling us stories with his coos and is starting to blow bubbles too!
  • Started grabbing his feet last week. It's the cutest!
  • Just this week has started playing/sticking out his tongue.
  • Is about ready to roll over. He's so close. He gets on his side while grabbing his toys in his gym.
  • Favorite songs: "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" and "Take Me Out to the Ball Game!"
  • Weight: 14 lbs 15 oz (50%ile)
  • Length: 23-1/2 inches (5%ile)
  • Head Circumference: 42 cm

I love this one of him grabbing toys
So serious
Lookin' like a big boy
