Fun in the Sun

So although the weather greatly improved this past week...we've been spending a lot of time in our swimming suits. Kate loves her little kiddie pool I got at TJ Maxx for $10 bucks. And I love it too...I will admit I've taken a few dips (well actually like full on got in) in it too!

We've also enjoyed some of the "big pools" (said in a low grumbly voice by Kate) around us!

Swimming at Cole's house

Oh and I'm very sad to announce that Kate is losing her other best friend this summer! It's been a rough summer. First her friend Oakley left in May to Virginia for her Dad started his residency and now Cole leaves next week for Minnesota. What is a girl to do?! It's pretty rough stuff...I guess we'll have to take Dory's advice and"just keep swimmin'." Good thing our little lady likes to swim :)

Johnson Co. Fair

Yesterday Kate and I went to our local county fair to check out the animals! Kate was SO excited when I told her what we were going to go do. I made her stop at JoAnn's Fabric before we made it over to the fair grounds and the poor little girl could hardly wait. It was so much fun to watch first she was a little hesitant to get close and insisted that I hold her...but she quickly warmed up and loved scampering from building to building checking out each kind of animal and letting me know what sound each one made. She especially loved the piggies!

Kate's pediatric dentist hosted an free evening at the Children's Museum and Coralridge Ice Rink for her patients. We took the opportunity to introduce Kate to the joys of ice skating and she did TOTALLY awesome! She is a real natural and even kept her feet together and would try to shuffle a bit. She actually enjoyed herself and kept saying "I like ice skating" and when I asked her if she was having fun, she replied "YEAH!" I was really surprised...but I guess I shouldn't have been...her name is Kater-Skater after all! Can't wait to go again!

Look at that smile :)

Happy Independence Day!

Happy Birthday America! Oh how I love the 4th of July...the parades, the red white and blue, the BBQs, the fireworks...

At the Coralville Parade

Backyard BBQ
We had a great day full of friends and fun...complete with front row seats at the Coralville Parade, lots of friend time, naps, a BBQ, and of course fireworks! Kate experienced her first firework show and it was a hit! She can't stop talking about the " ones." She didn't mind the loud bangs but insisted I hug her close with both arms wrapped around her. Hope you had a great day too!

God Bless America!

Farmers Market

I love going to the local farmers markets around us! It took awhile but we were finally able to make it to the Iowa City one this past weekend. We enjoyed purchasing some yummy veggies, eating breakfast from the food vendor tents, and enjoying the nice, cooler temperatures. Here's to many more trips this summer and the hope that we continue to have a lovely, non-humid week for our 4th of July celebrations!
