Our Garden

We are happy to announce that our little garden despite the drought and awful hot is growing and has started to produce! That's right...we have picked 5 zucchini, 1 yellow squash,  2 green bell peppers, and 2 yellow cherry tomatoes! Pretty sweet!

Tim and I both grew up planting a garden and were super excited that there was just the place for one in our backyard.  Tim had to work really really hard to get the spot ready but thankfully we are now beginning to see the fruits of our labors. Fresh sauteed zucchini is on the menu tonight!

Kate's excited about the garden too! Oh and notice her pigtails :)

3 Years

It was three years ago today that Tim and I tied the knot. Happy 3rd Anniversary to us!  I'm so thankful for our wonderful life and grateful we will be together forever!

While we were in Utah my parents watched Kate so we could go on a big date for our anniversary. It was a little early but so nice to not have to worry about Kate while we were away. We headed up to the Olympic Park in Park City and enjoyed dinner at an old favorite, The Dodo. We did some celebrating at home today and are planning another little date later this week. I love you Tim!

A Dream Come True

It's pretty hard to believe but it's true...Costco is now here in Iowa City! Hallelujah! I can totally recall telling Tim when we moved out here that life would be so much better if we had a Costco.... and now we do! It's a total dream come true! Our first day back we headed over to go check it out.  It was amazing and I totally felt at home :)
Covered parking...totally awesome!

The craziest milk carton I have ever seen

Our Last Week- Week 5

It is hard to believe that our last week is now over. Although I shouldn't complain...we did get 5 weeks in Utah...but somehow it just never seems like enough. We enjoyed some time in Orem with Tim's family with some swimming, visiting BYU, meeting baby Cruz, and using our Pass of All Passes to mini golf and hit at the batting cages. We also got to go see the 24th of July parade floats. We sure love our family and friends! Thanks for an amazing trip. We miss you already!

I forgot to mention we stopped through our old stomping ground in Aurora, CO to see some friends, eat at my favorite Mexican restaurant, and spend the night (I bummed I didn't get any pictures). We are saddened by the events that took place at our movie theatre there in our old neighborhood. Our hearts and prayers go out to all of the victims and people involved.

14 months

Another month has flown by...today is Kate's 14 month birthday! Just a quick update on our little gal. Kate is a walking machine. She walks about 90% of the time. She loves her new found freedom and is EVERYWHERE and into EVERYTHING! She loves blowing kisses and waving to literally everyone! She is quite proud of her walking abilities and enjoys clapping for herself. Kate has 10 teeth. She take 2-2 hour naps everyday and is just the best little sleeper. Her favorite book is Good Night Utah and her favorite foods are watermelon, raspberries and strawberries, string cheese, peas, and black beans. She will no longer let me feed her anything from a spoon...she's too independent...so Gogurts are a favorite around our house. Kate loves playing with her grandparents and cousins. And loves jumping on the trampoline and always wants to play on or by the stairs!! Oh dear!  She also loves unloading the dishwasher. Favorite toys include; the microwave (both play and real one), her Disney Princess bath toys, my parent's Sesame Street Little People Clubhouse, the baby and carriage that go to one of my old doll houses, books, and spoons. Kate says 5 words, "mama", "dada", "uh-oh", "hi", and "bye." And all of a sudden doesn't seem to like baths. We are just having so much fun watching Kate grow and watch her personality develop!

By the way...if you're asking yourself "is that an eyeball in her hand?" it is...a lego one. She wouldn't give it up for the pictures :)

Week 4

Another full week chuck full of fun...and believe it or not this isn't half the pictures!

East Millcreek 4th of July Parade

My brother Jeff who is the Energy Management Coordinator for the City of Salt Lake gave us an inside tour of the City and Co. Building. We got to go to the very top...which only very few have access. Since 2nd grade I have wanted to do this.  It was totally awesome!

Checking out the big bells
At the very top!
Church History Museum- Book of Mormon Children's Exhibit...it is awesome!

It actually rained one day so we headed to the museum
Checked out a Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives Guy Fieri approved restaurant
Game night with two of my dearest friends, Ashley and Jenny

It wouldn't be summer without running through some sprinklers, right?
Birthday BBQ for Auntie Ann
Hogle Zoo with Uncle Bob, Auntie Hana, and Brady, Evan, Bronson, and Paisley

We loved the new Rocky Shores exhibit. The seals and polar bear were especially active.

Oh and I totally forgot to mention that Kate took her first steps on June 11th! She slowly started taking more steps and worked on gaining her confidence and just last week really took off. She is now a total walking pro!

And just yesterday two of her bottom molars broke through. One on the left, one of the right. I didn't even now they were getting close...She is a very good girl! She now has 10 teeth!

Week 3

As you can tell we had another week full of fun. Although this time it wasn't in Utah...it was at the Happiest Place on Earth...that's right we got to go to Disneyland! We got to go down with Tim's family for a family reunion. Tim and I both grew up going to Disneyland. Oh how I love Disneyland! It is such a special place. Tim and I both still get giddy walking down Main Street USA. We both have so many wonderful memories but this trip was different than any other...we got to share it with Kate! Getting to experience Disneyland as a parent and seeing Kate's eyes light up as she saw Mickey was incredible!

Kate totally loved it! She enjoyed all the rides but especially loved Finding Nemo, Dumbo, the Teacups, the Jungle Cruise, the train, and the definite favorite was the carousel! Kate was a trooper and we were able to hit it hard and pretty much do it all (although she did fall asleep on Pirates of the Caribbean). Kate also especially loved meeting the characters. She got so giddy and excited to meet Mickey and Minnie. It was so cute! This first trip to Disneyland will be something we will never forget!

We also got to take Kate to the beach for the first time! We headed to Huntington Beach before he headed home and she loved it! She enjoyed playing in the sand (and eating some of it too) and loved the water...although she would get sad every time the water would leave....she didn't get why it would come in and then leave :) What a great trip! A big thanks to Tim's parents for making it possible!

I even got to go to a Sokol family favorite restaurant, El Cholo, and have their famous green corn tamales...you can tell they are to die for!

Rides, fun, and family
