Kate le encanta chile verde!!!

We have been having a lot of fun this past week. Let's see...what did we do? Kate...

-Celebrated her first Valentine's Day! (We forgot to get a picture of us all until right before we were putting Kate to bed...oops).

-Drew her first picture with crayons and colored pencils

-Had fun sitting up in the tub

-Helped Mom with the laundry

-Decided that she actually does like beans

-And the biggest news...oh I am just so proud...Kate tried and loves chile verde! We made my favorite chile verde burritos this week...which is a big deal since you have to have a can of this chile verde sauce that you cannot buy here in Iowa. We actually hauled several cans from Utah over Christmas so we have only a limited supply. I'll admit I was a little hesitant to share since we only have so much and I wasn't so sure Kate would appreciate it...but I'm so glad I did. She couldn't get enough of it and just gobbled it right down. She really must be my daughter!

Eating some child verde mixed with rice
Oh yeah and Kate's fourth tooth (left front one) just came through!

Physical Exam with Dr. Bahr

I was looking at our pictures today and realized I never posted this picture... Sometime between Thanksgiving and Christmas Tim got his fancy stethoscope and a few other doctor tools so he can learn to do physical exams. So for a good 2 or 3 weeks Tim was checking Kate's heart and listening to her breathe everyday...oh wait he still does it...but just not quite as often. It's pretty dang cute! Kate makes a great patient and Tim's just prepping for the future...

We had Kate's 9 month appointment on Tuesday. Kate weighs 16 lbs 12 oz (15th percentile) and is 26-1/2 inches long (19th percentile...we're pretty excited she's that high). Hope you each had a Happy Valentine's Day! We sure did here!

9 months!

It's hard to believe that our little baby turned nine months yesterday! I felt like this "birthday" was especially significant given that she was growing in my tummy for 9 months too!  To celebrate we went to the University of Iowa Natural History Museum (like BYU's Bean Museum) on Saturday and decorated Valentine sugar cookies on Sunday.

Kate continues to grow and grow. She is getting so big and more grown up everyday. Let's see...Kate's favorites include running around her round-about, shaking her head, Daddy's glasses, dancing to music, patty cake, playing with her play fruits and veggies, eating bananas and Cheerios, brushing her teeth, walking as we hold her hands (still no crawling), and grabbing and holding these can cozies (It's so funny, she absolutely loves them! See picture below). Dislikes...to be honest she doesn't have too many...beans, eating under my nursing cover at church, and going out for walks when the sun is shining but it's really cold...oops! Happy 9 month birthday Kate!

#3

Yesterday we hit another little milestone...no Kate is not crawling...but her third tooth has broken through...just in time for her 9 month birthday! It's the right lateral incisor on the top. I tried to get a pic but it didn't work out so well. But trust me, it is really cute!

Cruisin' Kate

So before Kate was even born I knew I wanted this particular activity station...I had saved our Babies R Us gift cards (that were so generously given) so when Kate was old enough and we had moved to Iowa we could get it.  When Kate was about 4 months old the time had come...I went to get one only to find out that Babies R Us was no longer carrying it. I was devastated! I spent a lot of time looking into our options and finally told Tim I thought we'd just have to buy it. It is the only activity station thing where the baby can walk around it rather than just spin in place...At the time I probably sounded ridiculous but after watching Kate go around-and-around I am sure glad we figured out a way to get it.  A huge thanks to my  sister-in-law who offered to buy our gift cards from us. Thanks Ann!

Kate has really enjoyed it but it wasn't until after Christmas she was starting to get a hang of moving. Now she has she gotten really good and is cruisin'! She absolutely loves it! Take a look...
