Hamburg Inn No. 2

After the rain ruined our plans to go to this local orchard to pick apples for FHE we decided to go try the famous pie shakes at the Hamburg Inn with our good friends the Lowes! The Hamburg Inn is one of Iowa's most famous restaurants and a must visit when coming to Iowa City. It is actually pretty much a diner dive but they have quite the reputation. They have been visited by many politicians and candidates and its a must "Meet the People Stop" for all campaigns. Ronald Regan, Clinton, Obama and many others have made the stop. They even have a plaque next to the table Regan sat at. Pretty cool! They make a mean pork tenderloin and have killer pie shakes. When you come visit we'll take you there :)

Things are going well for us...Tim is very busy studying but is loving school. Kate is so cute and I am starting a book club in my ward. We are looking forward to General Conference and my Mom is coming to visit...I can't wait!

Mommy and Kate

So the last two weeks here in Iowa City have been delightful! The weather has been perfect- not too hot and not too cool. We are hoping for a nice long Fall too. Kate and I have really been enjoying going to the park and going for strolls with the nice weather. There are a lot of great trails and parks around our house that we have had fun exploring. I am making friends with some other moms that live close by and enjoy spending some time with them during the day. Here are a few pics!

Happy 1/3 of a Year!

Today is Kate's 4 month birthday!  It hard to believe this little lady is is really 4 months old. That's a third of a year! Wow, how time flies. It is so fun watching her grow and develop. We are loving her laughs, smiles, and jabbering. Here are some pics from the photo shoot this morning...sorry, no smiles.  When the camera comes out, the smiles disappear...maybe someday.
I guess you'll just have to come visit to see the smiles :)

Everything goes right to her mouth!

Oh and look at this big girl- she is getting so good at tummy time- head up and even on her forearms!

Hard Work

"It's hard work having this much fun!"

Have you ever heard that before? Well Kate sure has...  So I laid Kate in her play gym this morning to play and she was having a ball of a time. I decided since she was so happy I'd jumped in the shower. I was seriously in there for 5 maybe 7 minutes. When I got out to check on her here is what i find...one tuckered out little lady!

She sure knows how to have a good time! Despite the "serious" warnings on the tag of the gym, I just put a blanket over her and let her take her nap.

Happy Weekend!  Hope it's restful :)

Rise and Shout

Happy Kickoff to the 2011-2012 season!!
Gosh I love fall and BYU football! Today was a great day!
We started off by heading towards Kinnick Stadium to partake of the crazy Hawkeye tailgating and pre-game festivities. Whoa...these Iowans sure know how to tailgate and support their team. As we walked down the street I think we were the only ones not wearing black or gold (we felt pretty silly and out of place...we'll have to change that). Anyway, it was fun to just be out and be apart of the excitement. Maybe sometime we'll go to a game but for now we'd rather spend our Saturdays watching BYU. After a crazy Iowa rain storm (aka complete down pour) some new friends invited us over to watch the Cougs. We enjoyed great company, good food, and our first win! Thanks Shaha's and Kyle Van Noy! It will be fun to watch the season unfold. Go Cougars and go Hawkeyes!
Sporting our BYU gear
Go BYU! Happy girl cheering on her team!
